The transition may not be equally easy for everyone. Access to training, job mobility, disability, age, location, language and employment security can affect who gains from new technology. Training should be practical, paid where appropriate and connected to real job pathways.

An insurer introduces an AI assistant to summarise claim files. Assessors spend less time reading repetitive material, but they still need to check the source records, identify missing context and make decisions under the organisation’s rules.

If the employer simply raises output targets, errors and stress may increase. If it redesigns the workflow with staff, tests accuracy, protects personal information and gives assessors authority to question the system, the technology is more likely to improve work safely.
